An outside view of Dales House.Dales House is a small residential care home for adults aged 18 plus who have profound learning and physical disabilities and complex/multiple needs. Our home promotes a family atmosphere and provides a person centred care service based upon the individual needs of our residents.

Newly refurbished, our home has all the facilities required to cater for the needs of our residents whilst our dedicated team of highly trained staff ensure their well-being.

Situated in the popular residential area of Cottingham, Dales House has good transport links to the city of Hull and the village of Cottingham. There are a range of local shops, churches, pubs and parks within easy reach of our home.

Our Care

Our CareHere at Dales House we cater for adults aged 18 plus who have learning and physical disabilities and complex and multiple needs. Our care services are delivered through a person centred approach based upon the individual needs of our residents.

Life At Dales House

Dales House has a strong philosophy of an individual’s right to family life and social inclusion. Links between an individual’s family, friends and pets are actively encouraged and promoted. Our residents are encouraged to fully participate in family and social life, to be valued members of the community and to continue focusing upon achieving their individual goals and aspirations.

Service users are actively involved in deciding and participating in the preparation of weekly menus and daily meals just as they would be in any family environment.

Activities

We provide a range of activities, each tailored to the needs of our residents to help promote a happy environment and an enjoyable stay. The rear garden features a vegetable plot so that our residents can engage in gardening activities.

Respite Care

Most of our residents are permanent, however, we are also able to offer a respite service for shorter stays.

Meet The Team

All members of our team are fully trained and have additional specialist training in the use of a variety of communication techniques including hand signing, intensive interaction and the use of symbols. Dales House has a specific feeding and swallowing policy and our staff are able to meet a variety of nutritional needs.

Lindsey Bratton

Lindsey – Responsible Individual
I oversee the running of Westwood Care Group and Westwood Care and Support Services. I have a passion for supporting people and helping to improve their lives through quality care and support services. I am very much hands on and love nothing more than talking to the people we support about what it is they are looking for in a service and how we can help them to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Mary-Jane

Mary-Jane – Registered Manager
This is Mary-Jane, she is the care manager at Dales House. Mary-Jane has worked in care for over twenty years in a variety of roles and is a qualified social worker who has specialised in mental health. She is passionate on both a professional and personal level about providing outstanding services for adults with complex needs. Mary-Jane is forever losing her keys!

Helen Davies

Helen Davies – Area Training Manager & Consultant
I am delighted to be appointed as Area Training Manager and Consultant with Westwood Care Group after working closely with Lindsey and her teams for the past two years. I bring with me a wealth of experience, knowledge and a passion for Best Practice. I am driven by personal and professional experiences to share and promote excellent working relationships to best suit the unique and diverse needs of Individuals requiring dignified, respectful, safe and enabling Care and Support.

Bianca

Bianca – Deputy Manager
This is Bianca, she is the deputy manager at Dales House. Bianca has many years of experience working in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors prior to moving into residential and hospice care. Bianca is a dementia ambassador and trainer for Hull. In her spare time Bianca loves to do crafts and is a superb cook!

Josie

Josie – Senior Support Worker
This is Josie, she is an experienced carer and has several years of experience working with a variety of needs. Josie is devoted to her family and her grandchildren.

Leanne

Leanne – Senior Support Worker
This is Leanne, she has worked in care settings all of her adult life and is passionate about her role. Leanne has experience of working with both adults and children who have a variety of needs. Leanne has lived in Canada and loved her time there.

Linda

Linda – Senior Support Worker
This is Linda, she has 28 years of experience working in the care sector in a variety of settings. She also has experience of working with children. Linda loves the outdoors, has climbed Helvellyn, walked the west highland way and swam with turtles!

Michaela

Michaela – Senior Support Worker
This is Michaela, she is a support worker. Michaela has many years of experience in the caring profession. In her spare time she enjoys playing darts and caring for her grand children.

Natasha

Natasha – Senior Support Worker
This is Natasha, she has over six years of experience working with adults who have complex needs both in the community and residential settings. Natasha is a keen animal lover and spends her spare time walking her dogs and riding her horses.

Sean

Sean – Senior Support Worker
This is Sean, he has experience in working with adults with physical and learning disabilities and is passionate about delivering person centred care. Sean ultimately hopes to train as a mental health nurse. Sean has recently spent time travelling across America with his friends.

Caroline

Caroline – Support Worker
This is Caroline, she has sixteen years of experience in the care sector. Caroline has worked with younger adults and also has experience of older people’s mental health. Caroline loves crafting and is a keen sewer, she can create almost anything from material!

Craig – Support Worker
Craig has over 15 years experience of working with people with complex needs and he is passionate about his work. In his spare time, Craig describes himself as a gin lover and cheese fiend! Craig says that the best thing about working at Dales House is that “it is a place full of love”.

Jemma Bailey

Jemma Bailey – Support Worker
This is Jemma Bailey, she has spent her career working with adults with learning and physical disabilities. Jemma has a young family and they like to spend their holidays visiting relatives in sunny Spain.

Julie

Julie – Support Worker
This is Julie, she is a support worker she has worked in care for the last two years and feels she has found her vocation!

Karen

Karen – Support Worker
This is Karen, she has over five years of experience in the care sector working with older adults as well as people with learning disabilities. In her spare time Karen volunteers for The Foundation for Studies of Infant Deaths and is very passionate about this cause.

Lyndsey – Support Worker
This is Lyndsey, she has 12 years experience in the care sector. Lyndsey is committed to her family and spends her time off work going to the cinema or out for meals.

Mariya Gencheva

Mariya Gencheva – Support Worker
This is Mariya Gencheva, she has many years experience working in the care sector, she has a young family and can speak four languages.

Nikki Stanton

Nikki Stanton – Support Worker
This is Nikki Stanton, she has experience of working with a variety of client groups and is passionate about care work. Nikki likes to go walking and swimming in her spare time.

Sam – Support Worker
Sam spent 9 years working as an auxiliary nurse and then went onto specialise in working with adults with complex needs. In her spare time Sam is a keen crafter and has three cats whom she loves.

Sammy Shaw

Sammy Shaw – Support Worker
This Sammy Shaw, she has several years’ experience working for our sister company as a personal assistant in the community. Sammy likes to spend her time off with her son and dog visiting the seaside.

Suzanne

Suzanne – Support Worker
This is Suzanne, she has over 4 years’ experience working with complex needs. Prior to working in care Suzanne worked as a dance and fire performer at local events.

Tamara

Tamara – Support Worker
This is Tamara, she has both personal and professional experience in the care sector. Tamara is delighted to have recently passed her driving test.

Tamsin – Support Worker
Tamsin has four years’ experience working with adults with complex needs , Tamsin states she feels a sense of achievement in helping others.

Tina

Tina – Support Worker
This is Tina, she is a support worker. Tina has over 25 years experience and is dedicated to the caring profession.

Tracy

Tracy – Support Worker
This is Tracy, she has experience of working with adults and children who have complex needs. Tracy enjoys socialising, going to music festivals and family life.

Max – Apprentice
This is Max, he is our apprentice and his experience to date lies in youth work. Max also runs a Sunday school at his church for up 50 children per week.

Andy – Casual Support Worker
This is Andy, he is a casual support worker, he has worked in various support roles for Hull City Council for over 23 years. In his spare time Andy has a passion for the arts and loves to visit galleries.

Francesca – Casual Support Worker
Francesca has recently moved to Hull from the Wirral , she has three years experience of working with children and young adults with complex needs in both community and residential settings.

Toni

Toni – Casual Support Worker
This is Toni, she is dedicated to her family and has specialist knowledge of working with people on the autistic spectrum.

Facilities

The facilities at Dales House.Dales House is arranged over two floors and features seven bedrooms, various communal living spaces and six bathrooms including 2 en-suites. Our home also boasts a rear garden with a vegetable plot so that our residents can engage in gardening activities.

As a newly refurbished development, Dales House features all the facilities you can expect from a modern care home, including:

Our Rooms

We understand the importance of the comfort and happiness of our residents and we work hard to make them feel at home. All our residents are fully involved in making choices regarding the decoration and layout of their bedrooms and personal living spaces.

One bedroom is on the ground floor and the other six are on the first floor. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.

Communal Living Spaces

There are three communal living areas including a living room, day room and a dining room where residents are able to socialise and join in with activities.
